Message from Sallyanne and Barry Scott
September 2011
Dear friends,
In case you didn’t know, Barry and Sallyanne Scott are your new Co-Presidents for 2011-2012. We would like to thank Debra and Joe Hammer for their tireless effort and dedication to TBT for the past four years. The new board was installed on June 13th. Game Night quickly followed. It was a tremendous financial success thanks to the hard work of Judy Gold, dessert maven extraordinaire, her incredible raffle-procuring assistant, Andie Goldberg, and behind-the–scenes buhlabusta, Rhoda London. Thanks also to Michelle Cyr for helping with the tickets. The turnout was so incredible that the community room was busting at the seams! Everyone had a good time and we look forward to next year’s Game night.
Over the summer, volunteers got together to refinish the community room floor. The front steps have been repaired and look beautiful. We also plan to have the sanctuary carpet cleaned before the holidays.
High Holiday preparations are underway. The new Mahzors have arrived and we are very excited to use them for our services. The Mahzor committee worked very hard in their search for the perfect Mahzor! We hope that you will find them contemporary, interesting, and user-friendly. Rosh Hashanah 5772 begins on Wednesday evening, September 28, and the rest of the fall holiday season unfolds from there.
On Sunday, September 11th, we will be having a catered brunch honoring Barry Schlein for his 35 years of service to TBT. Please join us and be a part of this wonderful celebration. Information can be found at the TBT website.
Religious school also begins on Sunday, September 11th.
Old favorites like the Sukkot Pot Luck will be back. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we will be able to feast in the Sukkah. A Klezmer Night with refreshments is also a possibility. Remember, for any of our TBT events to be successful, we need YOUR participation. Whether it is time or money, your support is needed so we can continue to offer rich, meaningful, fun, and spiritual events to our members.
As you know, TBT is known for our wonderful Shabbat Onegs. Included in this issue, is the Oneg Host Calendar. Please check to see which date you will be hosting the Oneg. If you cannot fulfill your hosting duties, please find a substitute or switch with a friend.
To keep up with news and events between The STAR newsletter releases, please stay tuned to email updates. As always, you can stay up-to-date by checking our online Calendar page, found on the TBT website -- www.TempleBethTorahWethersfield.org Please remember that your volunteerism is always needed to keep TBT thriving. If you have a couple of hours to spare, a special talent (carpentry, painting, plumbing, raking, anything!), the maintenance of TBT will forever be in your debt.
We look forward seeing all of you at the High Holidays. Please stop by and say Shalom!
To a good year,
L’Chaim and L’shana Tova,
Sallyanne and Barry
